akwaaba department
The mandate of the Akwaaba Department of our church is embedded in its name and it is anchored on Hebrews 13:2:
'Akwaaba' is a Ghanaian word that means
'welcome'. Hence the department is made up of
committed and trained greeters, assigned to our
services and special events to welcome visitors and regular
attendees to our church and make them feel ‘at home' so they form a
good impression about our church and Jesus Christ.
The Akwaaba Department helps our church to shape that first
impression which in turn, may very well shape a visitor's journey to
Christ.
Roles and Responsibilities of our Church Greeters
- Greet and welcome both members and visitors to our services.
- Make visitors feel welcome; attend to them after service by offering to help to take their personal information and hand them the church’s refreshment.
- Hand out any material (handbills, tickets, bulletin, etc.) to be distributed at the entrance.
- Identify visitors and guide them to familiarize themselves with our facilities such as washrooms, children's service area, Youth Service auditorium, etc.
- Help visitors who want to stay to join a department by introducing them to our pastor, a deacon or deaconess, a leader, etc.
- Keep the entrance clean and organized.
- Assist members and visitors entering the church with umbrellas when raining.
- Be aware of the needs of members and visitors at all times and offer assistance as appropriate.
- Ensure that visitors or regular attendees observe the COVID-19 protocols
The Department is coordinated by a leader, an assistant leader and team leaders. A team of about 5 members assists with each service, each typically volunteering once a fortnight.
Membership of this department is extended to any ICGC Faith &
Miracle Temple member who expresses interest and has the passion for
hospitality.
