Easter - A great time to share the Good News of Jesus Christ

Hurray! the Easter festivities are here with us once again!
From where I come from, Easter is regarded as a holiday period to have fun; it may be the same in other places. For others, it is a time to rest from the daily hassles of life.
However, for Christians Easter is very significant and it is the most important festival in the Christian year because it established the foundation of our faith. Easter is the season in which Christians remember the death and resurrection of Jesus. The scriptures at 1 Corinthians 15:17 made us understand that if Christ has not been crucified and resurrected “our faith is useless”, and we will still be under the “condemnation for our sins”. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, fulfilled prophecy and through His death, He “made us right with God” (Romans 4:25) which has given us the gift of eternal life in heaven.
Wow! this is Good News to share! Easter is an opportunity to say to our friends and people we meet, “There is something amazing that I’m absolutely passionate about, and I want to share it with you.”
As Christians, our core mandate is to “go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere” (Mark 16:15 NLT). This is a mission we are expected to do till “the end will come” (Matthew 24:14b).
Though we are required to do this always as Christians, Easter presents a good moment for us to move into our communities to share what the occasion stands for. Festivals just like Easter help to pass knowledge and traditions onto people and the next generation. The hinge pin of the commemoration of the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ should be the sharing of the “Good News” with the lost.
The hinge pin of the commemoration of the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ should be the sharing of the “Good News” with the lost.
People are lost without Christ meanwhile God “wants everyone to turn from sin and no one to be lost” (2 Peter 3:9 CEV). In Acts 4:12, Evangelist Luke tells us that “only Jesus has the power to save! His name is the only one in all the world that can save anyone” (CEV). God could have shared this Good News anyhow. Instead, He has chosen to share it through us. People in our communities need to hear it. If we don’t share it, who will?.
I strongly believe this is the reason why this year the leadership of our church moved our major evangelism and outreach programme “21 Days of Reach” from June to April so it will cooccur with Easter.
Let us take advantage of this Easter to share the Good News of the Gospel we are basking in with people, be it in person or on social media.
